Frequently Asked Questions

I would love to support you/your kiddo in the journey towards pelvic health knowledge and confidence!

When should I or my child see a Pelvic Health Therapist?

Pelvic health therapy is the standard in care during life transitions in many other countries and becoming that way as well here in the U.S. It is helpful to seek care and guidance during potty training, transitioning from a pediatrician to a gynecologist, during pregnancy and postpartum, along the perimenopause and menopause transitions and post menopause. And also, if you or your child are experiencing unwanted symptoms like bowel and bladder issues, pelvic or low back pain, core weakness, pain with sexual activity, recovering from an abdominal or pelvic surgery or support issues (like hernia or prolapse). Pelvic health therapy can provide relief from symptoms and also can prevent future symptoms from occurring.

How many appointments will I or my child need?

Each client has different needs and goals. We will build treatment and home plans together. Many of our clients see benefits after the evaluation or just 1 or 2 follow-up visits.

Do you offer home visits?

Yes, you choose where appointments occur. You can choose to come to the office (we are part of Be Well Collective at 3246 W. Henderson Road in Upper Arlington), we can meet virtually or I can come to your home.

Can my baby or child be with me during my appointments?

Yes and always! Visits are tailored to you and what works best for you and your family.

Do you offer adjusted rates or superbills?

Yes and yes! Pelvic health therapy should be available and accessible to all. We offer adjusted rates and scholarships so that everyone can access high quality core and pelvic healthcare. We also provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance on your behalf for reimbursement if preferred.

Is it beneficial to start pelvic floor therapy while I’m pregnant or should I wait until postpartum?

Ideally, all pregnant clients are seen at least once by a pelvic health therapist during pregnancy. We can provide lots of education, muscle coordination and/or strengthening, symptom relief, birth prep and help you plan for postpartum. It is ideal to be as strong and coordinated as possible and know your options leading into birth. This will allow for ease during labor and ideal healing to occur postpartum. After you birth your baby, we can start visits as early as 3-4 weeks postpartum to encourage and support recovery.

Other doctors have told me that medications (for constipation) or waiting for them to outgrow their symptoms (bedwetting) is all that is available for my kiddo. Why is pelvic health therapy helpful for kids?

Pelvic health therapy is an adjunct therapy option that can be used alongside others (i.e. medication, pediatrician recommendations, chiropractic care, etc.). After a couple visits with us, your child will understand normal bladder and bowel functions and cues, have improved muscle coordination and strength, understand benefits of using a stool and ideal fluid and fiber intakes and have a home plan tailored with a toolbox of stretches, exercises and habit changes (to name a few) that fit their needs and support them as they grow.

Is my child too young for pelvic floor therapy?

If your child is experiencing symptoms like constipation and/or fear of having a bowel movement, bedwetting, bladder or bowel retention, leaking, pain with menstruation or in a transition phase (i.e. potty training or shifting from pediatrician visits to gynecologic visits), it is time for an evaluation with us. We work with kids as young as 2.5 years old.

Is it ever too late to start pelvic health therapy?

Nope! It is never too late to learn about how your body works and moves, heal and to make improvements in your life. I have worked with clients as young as 84.

Will I have a choice during my visits or will I be forced to do things I am uncomfortable with?

Your understanding and consent is always most important. You are the expert of your body and you will always be given options during the evaluation and treatment process and for your home plan toolbox.
